The £1bn redevelopment will transform Queensway and Bayswater through a mixed-use regeneration of the iconic Whiteleys building.
Behind a retained façade the building will revitalise Queensway, providing modern retail units and a courtyard, hotel, creche, cinema and residential apartments. Belgrave has been working with Meyer Bergman and Warrior Group for over three years, providing community and political engagement support for the initial planning application and two subsequent Section 73 applications.
Given the significance of the building to the neighbourhood there has been enormous public and political interest in the proposals. Hundreds of local residents have engaged via pubic exhibitions and bespoke briefing meetings to those immediately neighbouring the site. Monthly meetings have also been held with the local residents associations and Ward Councillors are regularly briefed on the proposals.
Planning permission was initially granted in 2016 and a subsequent a Section 73 approved in 2017.
